Environmental expertise and landscape innovation to support the highest sustainability standards
Having worked with IPUT Real Estate previously, the development of Quantum Logistics Park presented an opportunity for our landscape team to work alongside the project's other design and build partners to deliver a one-of-a-kind solution that would meet the highest standards for sustainability.
Guided by the objective of being the first logistics park to achieve both LEED Gold and BREEAM certification, our work included examining the use of materials to improve sustainability in the external works, the design and installation of Sustainable Drainage Systems and planting design to enhance public walkways and communal areas.
With the design and build element of the project split into five separate (but overlapping) projects, it was essential that our designs and solutions were flexible. This also meant keeping pace with unplanned construction changes and regularly revising, updating and resubmitting designs.
Consisting of four individual units, a variety of communal areas and outdoor exercise areas, the completed Quantum Logistics Park will be an attractive and vibrant business hub, which will set the standards for sustainability and ensure environmental enhancement is a key consideration for future developments of its kind.
As part of the Quantum Logistics Park landscaping more than 40,000 shrubs and 750 trees were planted.
A versatile sustainable urban drainage solution
Key to the sustainability of this project was the design and installation of a sustainable urban drainage system. Having explored the benefits of a range of different options, we opted for a green permeable paving solution. This was chosen due to its versatility and design qualities, allowing the soft landscaping to extend across both the public plaza and vehicular access road.
