Located a short distance from both Mullingar town centre and the surrounding countryside, our designs for Farranshock Park housing were underpinned by the objective of creating a natural environment within the development.

Creating a durable and evolving natural environment through high quality design

This project saw us appointed to deliver detailed design information and specification of the hard and soft aspects of public open spaces and other external landscape areas within the Farranshock Park scheme. This also included producing a suite of detail drawings suitable for tender and construction purposes.

Located a short distance from both the nearby town of Mullingar and surrounding countryside, it was essential that our designs for Farranshock Park incorporated elements of rural character and urban design. This is something we applied across the hard and soft aspects of the open spaces, which included home zones, playgrounds, recreational open spaces, edge treatments, raised planters and street furniture.

Guided by these objectives we created designs that would allow for a seamless transition into the surrounding landscape. This meant making the most of green spaces to create a natural link throughout the development and included a large public open space at the heart of the development.

Alongside providing residents with active and passive areas to enjoy, we made sure to also include design elements that would add to the site's biodiversity. This was particularly important as a number of mature trees had to be remove from the site due to dieback. However, through extensive biodiverse planting we were able to contribute positively towards habitat creation and retention.
